Feminine Hygiene Program
With the support of Adagio Health Network, Community Action Partnership of Cambria County brings Cambria County and surrounding areas the Feminine Hygiene Program, part of Healthy Women for Life.
“Period poverty” – a woman’s inability to access necessary menstrual hygiene products because of being low-income, homeless, or experiencing other financial/social barriers – has become a serious public health concern. Additionally, all too often young people can’t talk about menstruation or their bodies because they don’t have the understanding or the comfort. When menstrual health is better understood, they are prepared to advocate for their own health and recognize troubling health conditions, leading to earlier treatment and better outcomes.
CAPCC is committed to eliminating “period poverty” by making these essentials accessible, confidential, and stigma-free. When budgets are tight, these necessities are often the first items cut. This can lead to missed work, missed school, health complications, and loss of dignity.
Products are distributed through our WIC Program. Please call 814-536-9031 for more information and locations for pick up.
