Community Action Partnership of Cambria County
The Promise of Community Action:

Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

The Community Action Partnership of Cambria County (CAPCC) is a non-profit corporation that works with eligible individuals and families to improve their quality of life by offering advocacy, services, and support.

In 1964, then President Lyndon Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act which was a part of the "War on Poverty" and allowed for the formation of Community Action Agencies such as ours. There are now over 1100 CAAs in the United States and forty-three in Pennsylvania.

Community Action Partnership of Cambria County began providing services to low-income county residents in 1965. Since then we have grown from a small agency employing 10 persons to a major non-profit corporation administering programs totaling 8 million dollars and employing 160 individuals.

This year, the Community Action Partnership of Cambria County has served 14,000 people. With the poor economy, high unemployment, welfare reform and downsizing of corporations, the number of families in need continues to rise. We at CAPCC pledge to help fulfill the basic needs of every citizen: the need for food, shelter, clothing and safety; the need to be accepted; the need for self-esteem; and the need to fulfill one's potential through the mobilization and direction of public, private and human resources.
